Rules and Regulation

No purchase necessary. The Contest is open to all youth who are between the ages of 14 and 24 as of November 13, 2009, except employees of the sponsor(s) and its/ their subsidiaries and affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies and their immediate families. Response to contest question required to win. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the originality of answer.

The Directors of Change Break the Silence Contest (the "Contest") is brought to you by Free The Children (the “Sponsor”) is governed by these “Official Rules”. The Contest starts at 12:00 am Eastern Time ("ET") on November 13, 2009 and continues until 11:59 pm ET on February 15, 2010 (the "Contest Period").

Eligibility: The contest is open to all Canadian youth who are between the ages of 14 and 24 as of November 13, 2009. Entrants under the age of 18 are only eligible to win provided that the winning entrant’s parent or legal guardian accepts the prize on his/her behalf and upon signature of parent or legal guardian. Children of the directors and employees of Free The Children, and any of the other sponsoring companies or affiliated companies are not eligible to enter. This includes immediate families, cohabitants, agents or contractors. One entry per person. Legal considerations require restricting the contest to Canadian residents. Our apologies to members residing outside the country. Any litigation respecting the conduct and awarding of a prize in this publicity contest in Québec may be submitted to the Régis des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Contest Question: The Directors of Change Break the Silence Contest is challenging you to explore the issue of children’s rights. November 20, 2009 marks the twentieth anniversary of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. Beginning November 13th, Directors of Change website will be accepting entries from individuals ages 14-24 that answer one of the following questions:

Imagine that you have an opportunity to speak to the General Assembly at the United Nations to represent youth around the world. What changes do you envision to further protect children’s rights and encourage world governments to take action?

OR

Which children’s rights issue needs our most urgent attention and what action can you take to help improve the situation for youth?

Format: Both English and French creative submission will be accepted. Entries must be received online through the Contest website and shall be deemed to be submitted by the holder of the email account. Multiple entries from the same person or from the same email address or from the same person from different email addresses shall result in disqualification.

Conditions of submissions: Formats: Only png, jif, jpg, bmp, can be accepted. Entrants must own the video or photo submitted and copyrights. As a condition of entry, each Entrant represents and warrants to Sponsor: the creative submission is wholly original and does not infringe upon or otherwise violate any right of any third party. Any submission that is late (including delayed data transmissions), forged, illegible, damaged, and incomplete, misdirected, or otherwise not in compliance with these Official Rules will be disqualified. Any submission that includes content that, in our discretion, is inappropriate, indecent, offensive, or obscene will be disqualified from winning this Contest. (ii) Upon submission, all entrants give permission for their photograph to be hosted on Sponsor’s website (http://www.doc/freethechildren.com) (the “Contest Site”).

By submitting an Entry and/or accepting any prize, Entrants acknowledge and agree: the Entry Materials, may be used in any and all media in whole or in part, alone or in combination with other works, and they may be changed, altered, edited or modified, used in distorted, illusory or composite form, or in any other manner, as solely determined by the Sponsor. By entering, all Entrants agree that their submitted Entry Materials, and all right, title and interest thereto, including copyrights and derivative works, and concepts or ideas depicted therein, become the sole property of the Sponsor and may be used (without obligation) together with any Contestant’s name, image, photograph, likeness or name by the Sponsor for any purpose and in any media whatsoever including, without limitation, print and the Internet, without compensation or review. Entries may, but without obligation, be included in the Sponsor’s marketing communication materials, in its sole discretion.

Judges and criteria for judging: All eligible Entries submitted by the entry period deadline will be judged on or up to five jours after February 15, 2010. The selection process will be monitored by the Sponsor, and evaluated by a qualified panel of Judges (the "Judges") based on the following criteria; Originality & Creativity (40%) – Knowledge & understanding of the theme (40%) Organization (20%). The highest rating score will be declared winner. One (1) Entrant, who is judged the winner and meets the panel of Judges’ criteria, will be declared the Prize Winner. The decision of the Judges will be final in all respects.

Prize Winner: The winner will be notified by telephone on or up to 5 business jours after the judging date and must respond within two (2) business jours. If the selected Entrants do not respond in accordance with the Contest Rules or the selected Entrants do not comply with the Contest Rules, he/she will be disqualified and will not receive the prize and another Entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries. The winner's name will be displayed on the Contest website and may be shown on other sponsoring websites or affiliated publications. Before being declared a winner, the selected Entrant’s parent or legal guardian will be required to sign an agreement and release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and acceptance of the prize as offered if the entrant is under 18. Such agreement and release must be returned within five (5) business jours of the notification date indicated on the documents or the selected Entrant will be disqualified and the prize forfeited.

Terms and Conditions: This Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to release Sponsor and all Contest Entities, retailers, distributors and advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, shareholders and agents from any and all liability, loss, damage or injuries to any person (including death) or property of any kind sustained in connection with their participation in the Contest or from their acceptance, receipt, possession and/or use or misuse of the prize, or for any typographical or other error in the printing, offering or announcement of the prize. Entrants further acknowledge that said parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to the prize, including, but not limited to, its quality or fitness for a particular purpose. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with the Contest mechanics and/or implementation will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. By participating, entrants agree to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest or these Official Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that Sponsor determines, in its sole discretion, violates these Official Rules. This Contest is void where prohibited.
